Baby Week Returns to Calderdale: Tiny Moments, Big Difference
17th October 2025
From 14th to 20th November 2025, Calderdale will once again host Baby Week, now in its third year, celebrating early parenthood and the joys — and challenges — of those first precious months and years of life. The week is part of the wider national Baby Week movement to bring together services, professionals and families to promote healthy starts for babies and caregivers.
Under the theme “Healthy Parent, Healthy Baby – Tiny moments can make a big difference”, this year’s week will shine a light on how small, everyday interactions — a cuddle, a song, a shared story — build strong foundations for both mental and physical wellbeing.
Across Calderdale, from Family Hubs to Libraries
Events will take place in Family Hubs, libraries, churches, community venues and more throughout Calderdale, offering free or low-cost sessions for expectant families and those with babies and toddlers. Highlights in recent years have included baby massage, storytelling, messy play, yoga and prenatal classes, music, dance and even First Aid drop-ins. On Thursday 20th November, a special gathering for professionals and volunteers will explore fresh ideas to support infant health and family services.
Why Baby Week matters
Baby Week is more than a festival of events — it’s a chance to raise awareness of the support available year-round through Calderdale’s Family Hubs. The first 1,000 days of life (pregnancy through age two) are widely recognised as a critical period for brain development and emotional bonding. By joining sectors — health, education, social care, voluntary groups — Baby Week helps families discover services they might not otherwise know about, and encourages professionals to work more closely together.
In Calderdale, the Family Hubs model, delivered by North Halifax Partnership, serves as a core platform for early years support. Physical hubs across Calderdale, plus outreach services across the borough, bring together midwifery, health visiting, parenting groups, infant feeding support, early learning and wellbeing services. The hubs’ digital presence also ensures wider reach, with an online “Advice & Guidance” front door to signpost families to local options.
Join the week
Whether you’re expecting your first child or navigating toddlerhood again, Baby Week offers a warm invitation to share, learn and connect. All events across Calderdale will be listed and updated on the Baby Week page.
